Abstract

Kail sawdust charcoal was used as an adsorbent for the removal of Torque blue, red RB and yellow M4G (textile dyes) dyes from aqueous solution. Adsorption was carried out at different concentrations of dye solution, dose of adsorbent, temperature, pH and particle size. The adsorption data were best fitted by Langmuir adsorption isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. Thermodynamic parameters (∆G°, ∆H° and ∆S°) were determined, and the results indicated that adsorption was spontaneous, feasible and exothermic. Adsorption was better at higher pH for torque blue and at lower pH for red RB and Yellow M4G dyes. Kail sawdust charcoal (bio waste) would be quite effective and economical adsorbent for the treatment of textile dye wastewater.
