Abstract

AbstractThe 1819 earthquake (M ≥ 7.5), located in the northern part of the Kachchh (Kutch) rift basin in the state of Gujarat, is the largest and one of the most well-documented continental earthquakes prior to seismic instrumentation. Although located in a region that was sparsely populated, it caused severe impact around its source as well as in distant locations like Hyderabad.
