Abstract

A new millimeter-wave resonant ring using a traveling TE/sub 01/ wave in an oversized cylindrical waveguide has been developed for high-power tests of accelerator components. Novel low-loss miter bends with flat mirrors that utilize mode mixing to minimize losses were used in the resonant ring. Low-power measurements show a maximum effective power gain factor that exceeds 35:1 at the operating frequency of 34.272 GHz. Total quality factor is approximately 21400, and the reflection coefficient from the input to the ring resonator is less than 1%.
