Abstract

The article presents research approaches to the question of the correlation of historical and artistic in A.I. Solzhenitsyn's epic “The Red Wheel”. The available points of view of the author of the article are divided into three categories: firstly, the perception of the author of the “Red Wheel” primarily as an artist with the endowment of the work with a special type of artistry; secondly, the position according to which A.I. Solzhenitsyn in the “Red Wheel” acted primarily as a historian; thirdly, in the “Red Wheel” A.I. Solzhenitsyn proved himself both as a historian and as an artist, since the artistic and historical are inextricably merged in his work. The final part of the article summarizes the results of the study.
