Abstract

By requiring that a bounce is non-singular and that perturbations are wellbehaved at all times, we narrow the scope of possible models with one degreeof freedom that can describe a bounce in the absence of spatial curvature. We compute the general properties of the transfer matrix of perturbationsthrough the bounce, and show that spectral distortions of the Bardeen potentialΦ are generically produced only for small wavelengths, although the spectrum of longwavelength curvature perturbations produced in a contracting phase gets propagatedunaffected through such a bounce.
