K-absorption spectral studies of some cobalt (II) benzohydroxamic acid complexes

Abstract

The complexes investigated in the present studies are: benzohydroxamate Co (BHA) 2, 2H 2O; p-chloro benzohydroxamate Co(Cl BHA) 2, 2H 2O; p-methoxy benzohydroxamate Co(Meo BHA) 2, 2H 2O and p-phenyl benzohydroxamate of cobalt Co(P BHA) 2, 2H 2O. The chemical shift values indicate that the relative ionic character amongst the four samples follows the order: Co(BHA) 2·2H 2O > Co(Cl BHA) 2·2H 2O > Co(P BHA) 2·2H 2O > Co(Meo BHA) 2·2H 2O.
