Abstract

Photoabsorption has been measured in the vicinity of K absorption edge. The isochromat is employed by monitoring the emerging characteristic X-rays from a thick target as a function of the energy of the incident excitation X-ray beam. A fluorescence X-ray tube is used for the bremsstrahlung photon source and a simple plane crystal Bragg spectrometer for the monochromator. The method is applied to some of the chemical compounds of Co. K attenuation coefficient has been determined and the chemical shifts of the energy of the absorption edges are presented and compared with other absorption data of chemical shifts.
