Abstract

The effects of aromatics contents of fuel on flame temperature and soot formation in intermittent spray combustion were examined through two color method. Four types of fuel with different aromatics contents, and with similar Cetane number and calorific value were used in this study. Through the experiments under the ambient conditions corresponding to the turbo charged diesel engines and injection pressure of 100MPa, it was explored that the aromatics contents have small effect on ignition delay and combustion period. However it has large effects on flame temperature and soot formation.
