Abstract
ABSTRACT A new non-marine species of the ostracod genus Juxilyocypris (Kempf, 1967) is described from the late Pleistocene and Holocene sedimentary succession of Lake Vrana (Dalmatia) and Pirovac Bay in the central part of Eastern Adriatic coast in Croatia. The species has been previously recorded as Juxilyocypris cf. schwarzbachi from Lake Vrana (Dalmatia). Juxilyocypris kempfi sp. n., is a cold-temperate species of flooded karst polje habitats characterized by clastic carbonate-rich facies, followed by an organic-rich, low-energy wetland, and periodically shallow waters with muddy bottoms. The presence of a new species of the genus Juxilyocypris (Kempf, 1967) in Croatia extends the known biostratigraphical and biogeographical range of this taxon.
