Abstract

Electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) are novel technological devices that enable users to receive nicotine. Since 2018, JUUL has captured 60.1% of the electronic cigarette market share compared to 35.7% market share one-year prior, thus establishing itself as the most popular ENDS device. With JUUL’s consistent increase in popularity, it has also increased in heightened attractiveness and use among adolescents. The purpose of this commentary is to provide a comprehensive review of the literature regarding JUUL use among adolescents, potential public health concerns, and consequences of such use. Recommendations for future research are provided.
