Abstract

Like all sports, the sport of cricket has its special brand of uniqueness. The time it takes to play, the rules, the equipment, the wicket, the history and so on. For me though, what makes it so different is the way in which it has virtually shunned the new world. It can be argued that Kerry Packer, technology, stadia, professionalism of athletes are all signs of a sport that has embraced change, and has advanced into the 21st century. However, in my opinion, many aspects of cricket still exist as relics of the past—a dinosaur within the modern era.
