Abstract
As a result of late Kimmerian movements, discontinuous sedimentation and a sedimentary gap through the Tithonian and Neocomian characterize many parts of Iran. In other places (eastern Koppeh Dagh, east-central Iran, and coastal southwest Iran) mainly red continental sediments or evaporites were deposited during this time interval. Continuous marine sedimentation took place in the western Koppeh Dagh, North Alborz, and the interior of the Zagros Mountains.
