Abstract

During an exploration and germplasm collection trip to Arunachal Pradesh in 2016 besides collection of local crop diversity, traditional knowledge on the method of preparation of a traditional beverage ‘Jumin’ and its nutritional, therapeutic and cultural values were recorded from the Nocte tribe inhabiting in remote localities of Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh. In present communication, plant diversity collected, ethnobotany and associated traditional knowledge on method of preparation of ‘Jumin’ and its therapeutic, cultural and religious values among the Nocte tribe have been discussed.
