Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the judgment of the weight of evidence in toxicology, therefore, to present the latest discussions on the Integrated Testing Strategies (ITS), as an essential component of the process of building the evidence of toxicity. In this context, giving emphasis on the importance of correct judgment of toxicological information for the purpose of hazard classification according to national and international guidelines, including the opinion of different authors on the systematization of the judgment process as an object of Evidence-based Toxicology (EBT). A discussion on the importance of noting the paradigm shifts in toxicology, since they constitute new advances and new visions that make it a science increasingly mature, technological, cost-effective and conclusive.
