263 Ramachandra, S.G., Prakash, N. and Narayana. K., 1992. Jugular blood plasma acetylcholinesterase (AchE) activity during oestrus in dairy cattle. Anim. Reprod. Sci .• 27: 263-267. Blood plasma acetylcholinesterase (AchE) activity was monitored in blood samples collected every 2 h before and after prostaglandin-induced oestrus in dairy cows. A maximum AchE activity of 138 ± 31 enzyme units mlI was found at 2 h after the onset of oestrus and there were peak activities of 112± \3 enzyme units ml' and 112± 7 enzyme units ml' at 8 and 24 h. respectively. There was a follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) surge at 8 h after the onset of oestrus. Preceding the initial peak AchE activity. there was a peak oestradiol concentration.
