Abstract
Jugaad is the most used and abused word in both academic as well as policy-making circles these days. The reason, of course, is that its interpretation is flexible and can be used to indicate everything from a village-level intervention to catch fish to a sophisticated innovation in software. All this doesn't add as much to confusion as it keeps the term and all that it represents relevant. Jugaad in formal academics is a small innovation from a set of things already existing to produce a contraption that is useful in a given socio-economic context.
