Abstract
How does a Saskatchewan farm girl become a nurse who has traveled the world? Judy (Jude) Liskowich has lived and practiced nursing in some of the most remote and unusual settings, yet has remained true to her roots. Her life philosophy—“be the best that you can be”—was inspired largely through the values taught during her high school years at Notre Dame College in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, Canada. After graduation in 1979, Jude worked for a year in Ile-a-la Crosse Hospital, situated on a peninsula on the Churchill River in northern Saskatchewan. This location and position prepared her for what would be many years of independent outpost nursing.
