Abstract

The operation of turbinectomy is discussed essentially as part of the total corrective operation for external deformity and nasal obstruction consequent on old injury. A rhinoplasty carried out at the same time as a septoplasty and turbinectomies can, in the writer's experience, be relied on to produce the best results as opposed to a two‐stage procedure, where the external deformity and nasal obstruction are corrected separately. Turbinectomy or surgical reduction of enlarged turbinates is advocated as an operation essential to the relief of nasal obstruction.
