Abstract

Blood pressure exhibits seasonal variation with lower levels at higher environmental temperatures and higher at lower temperatures. The seasonal blood pressure variation can be confirmed by repeated office measurements. However, long term home blood pressure measurement under stable condition is the best tool to access seasonal blood pressure variation because it is highly reproducible and reliable. In this lecture, I would like to talk about evidences on the prognostic significance of seasonal blood pressure variation and some recommendations for clinical practice.
