Abstract
Since 2001, the construction of a new high intensity accelerator complex was started in Japan. This facility is called the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) and intended to provide high intense primary proton and various secondary beams. The 0.75MW 50GeV proton beam will be available for particle and nuclear physics. The Tokai to Kamioka long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment (T2K), which utilizes the 50GeV proton beam, has been proposed and approved in 2004. This experiment is expected to be started in 2009. A sensitive search of ν μ → ν e oscillation and a precision measurement of θ 23 are the main objectives of the first stage of the T2K experiment.
