Abstract

The new capacity to transmit information from one computer to another made the introduction of a fully electronic medical journal inevitable. The recent announcement by the American Association for the Advancement of Science that their new Online Journal of Clinical Trials will appear this spring1 has prompted speculation about how the revolution in electronics may affect readers, authors, and editors. In its initial incarnation, the Online Journal will transmit reports of new clinical trials as soon as they are accepted for publication.
