Abstract

This is the third annual price study based on the Basic List of Veterinary Serials, 2d edition, as adopted in June 1981 by the Veterinary Medical Libraries Section, Medical Library Association. This study combines the list of core veterinary medical serials and the list of adjunct core serials in the biomedical and life sciences. Prices for 1983 through 1988 were prepared by the Faxon Company, a subscription agency. Prices for the base year, 1977, were compiled in the Carlson Health Sciences Library, University of California, Davis. The standard guide used for the study is the American national standard for library and information sciences and related publishing prac&es - library materials - criteria for price indexes (ANSI Z39.20-1983). From the base year, 1977, through 1988 the price index of these journals has risen 228.89 points, an average of 20.81 points a year.
