Abstract

T HE Journal of Aerospace Information Systems completed the year 2014 with a strong performance with nearly 145 submissions, with an average number of days from submission to first decision of 65 days and 30 days of average turnaround time for reviewers. In addition to publishing regular submissions, we also created two special issues: “Special Issue on Aerospace andMechanical Applications of Reinforcement Learning and Adaptive Learning-Based Control” (Guest Editors J. P. How, G. Chowdhary, and T. Walsh) and “Special Issue on Software Challenges in Aerospace” (Guest Editors M. Davies and L. Long). Several additional special issues are under development in the fields of uncertainty quantification, human–automation interaction, artificial intelligence in robotics, and optimal decision making in aerospace systems. In the coming year, wewill pursue additional special issues and invite qualified members of the community to suggest topics. Wewill also invite authors of papers from related AIAA conferences to expand their manuscripts for consideration by the journal. The JAIS is fortunate to have the dedicated and timely support of its Associate Editors and Editorial Staff.
