Abstract

When nonorthogonal pilot sequences are used in cellular systems, channel estimation would be impaired by intercell interference. To tackle this problem, we exploit the slowly varying characteristics of some special channel statistics (large-scale fading and spatial correlation) for incremental channel estimation. By using the block coordinate descent (BCD) method, a joint design of pilot power allocation at the transmitter and spatial filtering at the receiver in a multicell distributed multiple-input multiple-output (D-MIMO) system is proposed, with the demonstration of its convergence. Simulation results illustrate the superiority and validity of the proposed joint transceiver design.
