Abstract

In this letter, a joint subcarrier and power allocation scheme is proposed for an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based multi-color visible light communication (VLC) network. Different from the conventional white-light VLC, red, green and blue (RGB) lights are used in the VLC network to transmit OFDM signals. The optimization problem is formulated to maximize the sum rate of the VLC network, which is then solved by an iterative solution algorithm based on the Lagrange multiplier method. Simulation results show that the multicolor VLC network may achieve higher sum rate than the conventional white-light VLC system.
