Abstract
Linear periodically varying filters are considered as modulators and demodulators for the transmission of a cyclo-stationary source signal over a stationary channel. A spectral representation of filters and signals of this type by operator- valued transfer functions and spectral densities is introduced and the joint optimization of transmitter and receiver is performed in terms of these spectral characteristics.
