Abstract

Due to the inherent performance in reducing hardware cost and power consumption, analog/digital hybrid precoding is deemed as one of the key technologies in the future millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive MIMO systems. In this paper, based on singular value decomposition (SVD) technique and the concept of equivalent channel, a joint hybrid precoding strategy with high spectral-efficiency and low complexity is proposed. Specifically, to avoid iterative operation, the analog precoder and the analog combiner are obtained by operating SVD on the optimal unconstrained digital precoder matrix successively after an equivalent channel has been constructed. Then, the digital precoder and digital combiner are realized by decomposing the equivalent channel directly. Simulation results show that our proposed schemes have lower computational complexity than the existing schemes without significant spectral efficiency degradation.
