Abstract

A vision-based 3D scene analysis system that is capable to model real world scenes automatically from an image sequence has been developed in the MONALISA project. Input to the system is a sequence of images taken by a standard CCD camera. The camera motion is unknown. The output is a facet model that can be exploited for image synthesis of virtual viewpoints. In this paper, emphasis is placed on the image sequence processing for the estimation of both depth maps and camera motion.
