Abstract

A novel method for joint elevation and azimuth angles estimation with L-shaped array is proposed in this letter. The relationship between the direction matrices of the two subarrays arranged along different axes is first conducted via the signal subspace, and then the angles can be estimated via 1-D polynomial root finding, which is conducted from the noise subspace. The proposed algorithm can use fully the signal subspace and noise subspace to achieve automatically paired angle estimations with low complexity. Furthermore, it has better angle estimation performance than conventional methods. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the approach.
