Abstract

In this letter, we consider the joint design of transmit beamforming and receive filter for airborne multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems. The associated joint design problem is formulated by maximizing the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) to guarantee the target detection performance in the signal-dependent clutter environment. An iterative optimization procedure is developed to resolve the NP-hard joint design problem. The optimized transmit beamforming weight vector and receive filter exhibit superior performance in terms of output SINR and spatial-temporal beampattern. Several simulation examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
