Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) are geographically disseminated self-sufficient sensors, used for tracking ecological or physique conditions. Since wireless sensors are battery powered the energy is considered as the important factor in the WSN. Sleep-wake schedule a systematic method to curtail energy consumption in the network by effectively arranging sensor network to sleep when transmission or reception is not required. Here supplementary delay may occur in every node through the path to sink node. So to minimize this problem Dijkstra's shortest path routing is used. In this method shortest path is chosen and it is able improve the network lifetime. Hence, a joint design of Dijkstra's shortest path routing and sleep-wake scheduling, called DSRSS, to increase the network lifetime is proposed. Simulation outputs demonstrate that DSRSS efficiently attains network lifetime maximization by reducing the energy consumption compared with other routing scheme.
