Abstract

In this paper, we propose an intelligent transparent surface (ITS) aided transmission scheme for wireless communication systems on railways and investigate its joint channel estimation and data detection problem. Our scheme can reduce the high signal penetration loss due to the train carriage. First, we exploit the recursive information-exchanged algorithm to recover the channel and data based on least square (LS) and linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE). Second, we derive the Cramér-Rao lower Bound (CRLB), simplify the mean-squared error (MSE) expressions so as to theoretically evaluate the performance of our joint estimator, and also make a comparison with conventional channel estimators. Finally, simulations are provided to corroborate our proposed studies.
