Abstract

In this work, we consider the problem of joint channel, carrier frequency offset (CFO) and timing-offset estimation for amplify-and-forward (AF) two-way relay networks (TWRNs). Taking into account the impact of time-limited pulse shaping filters, we propose a maximum-likelihood (ML) algorithm for the joint estimation of the channel, the CFO and the timing-offset in AF TWRNs. The ML algorithm simplifies to a 2-dimensional grid search. We use simulations to show the mean-squared-error (MSE) and symbol-error-rate (SER) performances of the proposed estimator. It is shown that the MSE performance for all the parameters improves as the number of training pilots increases. It is also shown that the SER performance approaches ideal performance as the number of training pilots increases.
