Abstract

A method of joining a ceramic shaft to a cylindrical metal shaft with high heat resistance has been developed, which is referred to as a multi-fulfilling fitting The multi-fulfilling fitting is a kind of shrink fitting with brazing filler metals. It features the use of two kinds of brazing metals with different melting points. At the first stage, the ceramic shaft and the cylindrical metal shaft were shrink-fitted by filling a brazing metal with a higher melting point in the bottom clearance between the cramic shaft and the metal shaft. The joining was completed to fill a brazing metal with a lower melting point in the upper portion of the clearance.
