Abstract

Marcello Fogolino (Vicenza 1483/1488 - Trento post 1558) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance style. He worked early in his life under the painter Bartolomeo Montagna, but he was also influenced by Giovanni Speranza and Giovanni Antonio de' Sacchis (called Pordenone). He was banished from Venice, for complicity in a murder in 1527, and went to Trento where he worked for long time in the service of Prince Bishop Bernardo Clesio painting frescoes and altarpieces in numerous bishop properties, including Castel Buonconsiglio, Castello Malpaga, Villa Salvotti, and Palazzo Sardagna.
