Abstract

The following steps to prevent job site equipment theft are discussed: recording identification and serial numbers; marking equipment with logos or distinctive paint jobs; maintaining adequate lighting, fencing, and alarms; notifying police that equipment will be left at a job site; and immobilizing equipment by removing batteries or critical electrical system or starting system components and establishing barriers by corralling smaller equipment with larger pieces of equipment. Steps to take if a theft occurs are also addressed.
