Abstract

<i>JMRI</i>, the official journal of the Society for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (SMRI), is produced with the assistance of the Radiological Society of North America, the largest professional organization of radiologists devoted primarily to educational endeavors. The journal describes its focus as "the appropriate use of MR in newly emerging diagnostic applications...<i>JMRI</i>is intended to provide equal opportunities for physicians, basic scientists, engineers, and imaging technologists to develop the full diagnostic potential of MR."<sup>1</sup>The editorial board includes basic scientists and clinicians active in magnetic resonance imaging since its inception in the mid-1970s. Most represent US institutions, with fewer members from Canada, Europe, and Japan. The society selects all materials for publication, including advertisements.
