Abstract
Equations for estimating the J-Integral for small edge cracks and interior cracks subjected to a remote uniform uniaxial stress field are presented for both plane stress and plane strain conditions. A separate equation is derived for each of three different forms of idealized stress-strain curves. The equations are in the form of interpolation functions extending from the elastic solution to the fully plastic solution. The equations are also shown in graphical form for an edge crack under plane strain conditions.
