Jimenezin, a Novel Annonaceous Acetogenin from the Seeds of Rollinia mucosa Containing Adjacent Tetrahydrofuran−Tetrahydropyran Ring Systems,1

Abstract

A new cytotoxic acetogenin, jimenezin (1), containing a hydroxylated tetrahydropyran ring along with an adjacent tetrahydrofuran ring and representing a novel carbon skeleton, was isolated from the seeds of Rollinia mucosa. The structure was elucidated by means of chemical and spectral methods including MS and NMR measurements. Compound 1 exhibited potent cytotoxic activity against six human solid tumor cell lines.
