Abstract

Research Article| July 01 2017 Jim Crow Comes to Central Illinois: Racial Segregation in Twentieth-Century Bloomington-Normal Mark Wyman; Mark Wyman Mark Wyman retired from the Illinois State University History Department in 2004, ending a thirty-three year teaching career where he specialized in American immigration and labor history with emphasis on the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 1971, and before that he was in newspaper work—on small newspapers in Wisconsin and Montana before covering labor news for the Minneapolis Tribune. His six books mainly focus on immigrant and ethnic groups within the United States. Search for other works by this author on: This Site Google John W. Muirhead John W. Muirhead John W. Muirhead holds a B.A. in history from Illinois Wesleyan University and an M.A. in history from the University of Chicago. In 1962 he joined the Peace Corps and worked as a volunteer in Sri Lanka for nearly three years. He taught in Illinois public schools for more than thirty years, the last twenty of which were spent as an elementary teacher in the Bloomington, Illinois school system. Presently retired, he has researched and written about the history of African Americans In McLean County intermittently for three decades.
