Abstract
An increasing number of biblical scholars are trying to combine the historical and theological aspects by studying the connexion between the Old and the New Testaments and thus giving an account of their understanding of the Bible as a whole, that is, above all the theological problems that arise from the variety of the biblical witness considered in relation to its inner unity. To summarize, the various Jewish groups were at odds with one another because each had a different view of what was requested of the people of God, but common to all groups was an emphasis on the importance of the nation and of being the people of God. Furthermore, Jewish religion at that time seemed to be more concerned with doing than thinking, more with orthopraxy than with orthodoxy. Keywords: biblical faith; God; Jesus; social embodiment
