Abstract

Transgenerational Remembrance documents post-1989 performances, video installations, and other artistic practices about Japan’s role in the Asia-Pacific War. The book uses Noh theatre as a model instructing contemporary generations to live ethically with the ghosts of the war through active participation in performances that facilitate mnemonic exchange. It will be of interest to readers in Asian studies as well as theatre and performance studies.
