Abstract

Water has always been a precious commodity in Israel, and no more so than now. The country is experiencing a crisis in water supply and quality, such that Prime Minister, Ehud Barak, has authorised National Infrastructure Minister Eli Suissa to formulate specific plans for reducing overall water consumption and for creating additional water sources, by desalination, new networks for recycled sewage for irrigation, and the production of drinkable water from unused brackish and saline wells.
