Abstract
This paper attempts to establish a secure redaction-critical basis for the identification of an Urtext from the time of King Josiah's reform behind the present form of Jeremiah 30-31. It rejects Lohfink's earlier reconstruction and maintains that the key to such reconstruction lies in the formule ki/koh amar yhwh and hinneh yamim ba'im in the present form of the text. The reconstructed text presents Jeremiah as a supporter of Josiah's reform in that he called for the return of the former northern kingdom of Israel to Davidic rule
