Abstract

During an archaeological field campaign in Northern Sudan a survey to Jebel Tageru was undertaken. Situated on the southern edge of the Libyan desert, the mountain plateau seems to offer favourable conditions for plant growth. A description of the survey and the vegetation types of different habitats, e.g. the wadi beds, the alluvial plain and the sand dunes, is given. An annotated list is appended. It contains the names of 38 plant species collected during the survey, most of which belong to the floristic category of the Saharo-Sindian Region.
