Abstract

Welcome to the February 2020 edition of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. We now have moved to monthly editions of the Journal, which for us and hopefully for you, is very exciting. Dermatology research is in a wonderful growth spurt. We do think that by having monthly issues of JCD, we can enhance spreading the word on what is going on in the world of clinical research in cosmetic dermatology. In this issue, we have several very exciting review articles for you to read and learn from. The first, from Andriessen et al, is called Topical Stabilized Hypochlorous Acid: The Future Gold Standard for Wound Care and Scar Management in Dermatologic and Plastic Surgery Procedures. This is an important manuscript which shows how versatile hypochlorous acid is. It is quite useful in almost every procedure that we are performing in the cosmetic and wound management field. The next review is Radiofrequency Therapy in Aesthetic Dermatology: A Review of Clinical Evidences, by Kaizer et al. Again, a very important paper highlighting how important radiofrequency is for our patients in aesthetic medicine. This is followed by Schelke et al, report called Nomenclature Proposal for the Sonographic Description and Reporting of Soft Tissue Fillers. This important manuscript gives us more insight on our use of fillers and will be important to all of us moving forward. Next, Andriessen et al cover Pre-/Post-Procedure Measures for Laser and Energy Treatments: A Survey. This interesting article covers survey results from dermatologists and plastic surgeons on considerations pre- and postprocedures with devices and helps come to a consensus on what the norm is in today’s aesthetic environment. And finally, Liew et al cover Understanding and Treating Different Patient Archetypes in Aesthetic Medicine, helping us further define and understand the cosmetic patient better. So, as you see, there is someone for everyone in this issue of JCD. We will continue to bring and highlight the most important papers in our field. We encourage you to contribute to the journal with your clinical research and with your pearls and caveats. We are here for you, and we hope that JCD becomes a regular read for all of you.
