Abstract

This paper summarizes the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s studies for the fourth AIAA CFD High Lift Prediction Workshop test cases. An unstructured grid Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes CFD flow solver, TAS-code, is used to perform fully-turbulent flow simulations with variants of Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model. The verification study of the turbulence model of test case 3 in the flow solver is performed. Computations for flap deflection study of test case 1 are performed on two series of unstructured grids provided by the workshop organizing committee and a self-generated unstructured grid using an unstructured grid generator, MEGG3D, for comparisons. Grid convergence studies of test case 1 are performed on two series of committee-provided unstructured grids. Studies on different grid dependency and different version of Spalart-Allmaras turbulence models are performed on the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s unstructured grid. Computations for CLmax study of test case 2 are performed on the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s unstructured grid as the follow-on studies after workshop. The computational results are discussed by comparing with the experimental data.
