Abstract

Jatropha mirandana J. Jimenez Ram. & K. Vega (Euphorbiaceae), a new and endemic species from the Balsas River Depression, is described and illustrated. This species is similar to J. ciliata Sesse ex Cerv., but differs from it by having the petiole, leaf blade, peduncle, and staminate cyme of smaller size; there are also differences in the type of bark, the shape of the leaf blade, and in the color and shape of the pistillate corolla.
