Abstract

Adverse events following immunization (AEFI) is one of the conditions that is often a problem for the community, the events are increasing in body temperature, redness at the injection site which often occurs after DPT-HB immunization. This was also found in one of Public Health Center of Dharmasraya Regency which reported the majority of AEFI cases found were fever or an increase in body temperature after giving DPT-HB immunization, which were 21 cases throughout 2019. This study aimed to determine the Effectiveness of Jatropha Curcas. L Against on Temperature in Fever Babies Post DPT-HB 1 Immunization. This type of research is pre experiment with a non-equivalent control group design approach. The populations in this study were all targets of DPT-HB 1 immunization in the working area of the Health Center as many as 91 people, sample were taken by using a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 20 people divided into 10 treatment groups and 10 control groups. Data collection using body temperature observation sheets, data analysis includes univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using t-independent test. The results showed that the average body temperature of the respondents before the intervention in the treatment group was 38.3oC dropped to 36.39oC after the intervention. While the respondent's body temperature before the intervention in the control group was 38.5oC and dropped to 37.0o0C after the intervention. There is a difference in the decrease in average body temperature between the treatment group and the control group by 0.42oC with p value = 0.004, where the decrease is more in the treatment group. It can be concluded that the administration of Jatropha Curcas L leaf compress is effective in reducing body temperature of children with fever after DPT-HB1 immunization. Therefore, it is recommended for mothers of infants to be able to utilize Jatropha leaf compress as well as non-pharmacological treatment in the management of fever after DPT-HB immunization.
