Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had many long-term effects on various sectors, but its impact was particularly devastating in retirement homes. Jardin Royal Garden is a retirement home in Ottawa, Canada, and was among the few homes not to have experienced a single case of COVID-19 during the peak of the pandemic while other retirement homes in the region battled multiple outbreaks. The success of their strategy is largely a result of a proactive approach and the trust and relationships between management, employees, residents, and residents’ families.
